Kamil Szmid graduated with honors from the Department of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. At the Jagiellonian University he received also additional diploma of the American Law Program (lectures by professors of the Columbus Law School, Washington DC). He also finished numerous courses (with cum laude) at the Katholieke Universiteit in Leuven (Belgium), on a scholarship under the Socrates Erasmus program. He also studied Securities and Corporation law at the Cornell Law School (USA), Ithaca as an international student, where he obtained CALI Excellence for the Future Award for the best achievement in Business Organization seminar.

Since 2006 he has been legal trainee at the Warsaw Bar of Advocates and PhD student in the Chair of Private Business Law at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow.

Kamil Szmid has worked in Baker & McKenzie since November 2005. He assists in building and infrastructure projects and provide counsel for clients in all legal aspects and at all stages of this type of transactions; he was engaged in development of multifunctional retail, recreational and office complex in Warsaw of EUR 400 mln; he has been involved in preparing and negotiating lease contracts concerning retail and office space in various locations in Poland, and also standard developer contracts.
